Homemade Bread Pudding, a Black Country favourite

I love the good old fashioned Black Country dishes that once upon a time graced our dinner plates. For many reasons, this dish is one of my personal favourites, Bread Pudding is  lovely, easy, and cheap to make. So, here it is, my easy to follow recipe, traditional Black Country Bread Pudding.

You will need…

2 ibs of stale bread with the crusts cut off
1ib granulated brown sugar
1 ib mixed dried fruit
3 eggs
2oz butter or margarine
1 teaspoon mixed spice
Then…

Soak the bread in water, then drain and squeeze out the excess moisture.  Flake with a fork and add the remaining ingredients.  Mix well together and spread the mixture into a greased baking tin.  Dot with butter and sprinkle on top brown sugar and bake in a moderate oven for about two hours or until nicely browned.  Then cut and serve in blocks, enjoy hot or cold.
This is fantastic to use up that questionable loaf in your cupboard, give it a go today. Let me know how you guys get on.

Station Hotel starts blogging

Hi, I’m Jason, and welcome to the Station Hotels Blog. This is my very first attempt of Blogging as I wasn’t too sure what it was until today. Following a very inspirational seminar on social media this morning hosted by Passionate Media I felt somewhat inspired to write my own blog to create awareness of what we are doing here at the Station Hotel in Dudley. We are not just a local hotel offering budget hospitality, but we are an integral part of the community. We at the Station Hotel are proud to be at the heart of the Black Country history.
My ambition for this blog is to reunite the local community in the belief that we have many things to be proud of on our door step that we, members of the infamous Black Country should be proud of!
Join me in my challenge in spreading the word that we should shout loud and proud that Dudley is a town to be proud of and lets ‘Big up’ the Black Country together.
With the help of our excellent chefs at the Station Hotel, I intend to post a ‘recipe of the week’ to blow your mind with healthy, hearty ideas to feed your families without breaking the bank.
I’m so excited about what’s coming. Thanks for reading my first ever blog post and please keep coming back.

Thanks for reading
Jason
